Annually, Roger Fernandez, an elder artist and Story Keeper of the Elwha Tribe, teaches traditional cultural lessons through Coast Salish art form and storytelling. These cultural lessons include drawing and painting exercises teaching art concepts such as the use of negative space and culturally important symbols and shapes to create art pieces that portray many cultural ideas in one piece, while also teaching life lessons through stories told through the art and student-led stories where students are encouraged to "tell your own story."
